Team working and team building

Why do some teams perform better than others? How does team ‘synergy’ get created and maintained?

Synergy occurs when the cooperative efforts of two or more people working together produce ideas, solutions and products that surpass those any individual could produce working alone. But synergy doesn’t just happen. More often it requires paying careful , focussed attention to what makes a team successful, including the interaction styles that emerge as members work together to accomplish a task. Assessing these styles enables the team to determine what’s working and what’s not, as well as how to improve and sustain overall performance.

Using established and validated team diagnostics, our approach allows teams to:

  • assess the interaction styles of members as the attempt to solve problems and make decisions
  • improve individual commitment to joint solutions and effective implementation
  • enhance the quality of group dialogue and decision making
  • promote constructive behaviours that support the overall performance of the team and reduce unproductive time and energy loss in group situations
