Staff Surveys

Hertzberg – the father of Organisational Psychology - said that in managing their people, organisations want 3 things:

  • to attract the best people in

  • to enable them to perform to the best of their abilities

  • to attract them to stay

Akenham’s employment surveys give you the data you need to assess how well you are doing against these three factors. We use the best research or ‘Performance’, ‘Retention’ and ‘Organisational Commitment’ to help you design questions that will give you good data. We then provide you with the all important framework* that can capture themes and trends within the data and paint a picture of the key issues, and how they can be addressed.

*Surveys that consist of a collection of questions independent of any sort of framework tend to lack internal consistency. In other words, there is a high chance that questions will overlap and that the findings coming from the survey will appear blurred or out of proportion. Our framework is designed to balance the questionnaire, providing you with a good insight into the key issues that need addressing.

Staff surveys also often fall into the trap of asking staff how ‘satisfied’ they are with various aspects of the company or their employment. The problem here is that satisfaction on its own tells us little about how people actually ‘feel’. Our questionnaires are designed to assess the ‘mood’ of the organisation which gives a much better understanding of how people are likely to react - leave, feel more committed, de-motivated.
