Intensive Executive Programme - Adnams

Based in Southwold, one of Britain’s most beautiful coastal towns, Adnams is not only one of the UK’s largest independent brewers, but also one of the industry’s most dynamic. It was this dynamism that leads them to constantly question themselves and make changes to ensure a sustainable future. Changes like recognising that they had two quite distinct sides to their business and deciding to separate them and create two new businesses within the business - Brewing & Brands ( focussing on the brewing & distribution of beer) and Retail (focussing on the wine & spirits and hospitality)

Of course changes to a business will almost inevitable have an impact on the people and one such was a senior director who found himself having to review his career and decide on his next move.

After exploring the market, he chose Akenham to help him through his transition and started to meet with one of our directors, an experienced career consultant, whose background was suitably relevant. He already had some ideas about setting up his own consultancy but was not sure whether this was the right move for him – or indeed how to go about it. His consultant was able to help him work through all his options and arrive at a decision that felt right to him – to go it alone. Having made the decision we were then able to give him specialist advice on how to go about it whilst he continued to receive support and encouragement from his own consultant. He remained very positive throughout the process and recognised that his consultant had a significant part to play in helping him to remain positive and stay focused on his objective.

So far he has not looked back – he has established his office and signed up his first clients – and guess who he has on the list? – Adnams!
